If your air fryer runs hot, start checking at 5 minutes total cook time.
Best eaten immediately. If needed, refrigerate up to 2 days and reheat briefly at 350F (175C) for 2-3 minutes.

The Method
PREHEAT
Preheat the air fryer to 400F (205C) for 3 minutes.
Uneven cooking: Do not overcrowd the basket; shrimp must be in a single layer for proper air circulation.
Air fryer basket is hot to the touch.
DRY
Pat shrimp very dry with paper towels.
Residual moisture: If shrimp remain damp, they will steam instead of roast, leading to a rubbery texture.

TOSS
Toss shrimp with oil, salt, pepper, garlic (4 cloves), chile flakes, and lemon (1 whole) zest.
Over-tossing: Avoid excessive handling to prevent the delicate shrimp meat from breaking or tearing.

ROAST
Time-sensitiveSpread shrimp in the basket in a single layer. Cook 3 minutes, shake, then cook 2-4 minutes more until opaque and firm.
Overcooking: Shrimp continue to cook from residual heat. Pull them the moment they turn opaque to avoid a rubbery texture.

FINISH
Squeeze lemon (1 whole) over the shrimp and toss. Sprinkle parsley (¼ cups) if using and serve immediately.
